FPGA Design Engineer

The FPGA Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of FPGA code development within an embedded systems environment. The individual will perform activities including requirements definition, design implementation, simulation, testing and debug, document creation and at the most senior level, may provide architecture input, mentoring and team leadership.

Location: Ashburn, VA

Your Challenge:

  • Responsible for the design and development of new "System-on-FPGA" products as well as support of existing products
  • Concept development work with marketing, writing product specifications, test plans and VHDL/Verilog coding
  • Responsible for FPGA functional allocation, design, HDL coding, simulation, synthesis, and place & route
  • Support board development, bring up and debug

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience with VHDL and Verilog. SystemVerilog is a plus.
  • Experience with Xilinx ISE/Vivado tools.
  • Experience with IP integration tools such as Vivado IP Integrator.
  • Experience developing testbenches and simulating designs using Modelsim/Questa.
  • Ability to apply high-speed design techniques to achieve timing closure.
  • Experience with FPGA debug and lab tools and techniques (Chipscope, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Proven written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, commitment to quality and achieving deadlines.
  • Experience with Xilinx 7-series, Zynq MPSOC, Ultrascale, and Ultrascale+ device families is an asset.
  • Experience with Actel/Microsemi/Altera is an asset.
  • Experience designing with embedded processors and C software development is an asset.
  • Experience with both Hard and Soft Core IP integration and debug.
  • Experience with high-speed serial interfaces and Gigabit transceivers.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of PCI Express, Serial RapidIO, Gigabit Ethernet, DDR3/4 SDRAM, and QDR SRAM memory interfaces is an asset.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of analog ADC, DAC, and/or JESD204b interfaces is an asset.
  • Basic software development experience using C and knowledge of System-Verilog, PERL, Python or TCL/Tk is a plus.
