The Opportunity | Junior Drafter

Under general supervision, the Junior Drafter prepares working plans, detailed drawings, and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of moderately complex components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions, and rough or detailed sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes, using computerized equipment (e.g. CAD/CAM).

Major Accountabilities /Deliverable

  • Develops complete layout and engineering drawings of a variety of components and assemblies such as schematics, interconnect lists, parts breakdown, wire lists, etc., from notes, rough sketches or general instructions of engineers and designers. Creates and modifies detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering.

  • Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.

  • Checks drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards.

  • Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation.

  • May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage.


  • 1-2 years' experience in a similar role.

  • Familiar with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software engineering methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems.

  • Technical/Trade School Preferred

  • Must be a US Citizen
