The Opportunity | Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)



The Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) is responsible for managing and maintaining the Information Assurance (IA) requirements for accredited information systems and non-accredited but sensitive information systems. The ISSM is required to ensure IA compliance with internal and external standards such as NISPOM, RMF, NIST 800 series, ICD, and CNSS. The ISSM is responsible for the secure day-to-day operation and implementation of the systems, to provide technical and administrative guidance in support of the systems, and to develop and manage projects associated with Information Security (IS).

The Challenge:



  • Ensure all accredited systems are maintained in compliance with all applicable standards, while also retaining current and valid accreditations

  • Perform scheduled technical reviews of the accredited systems in compliance with prescribed standards

  • Maintain appropriate IS practices for operating systems such as updates and patches

  • Ability to project manage, provide cost analysis, and implement efforts associated with accredited systems and IS

  • Provide IA and user awareness training

  • Develop, maintain, and validate system security plans in accordance with applicable standards for accredited and non-accredited systems

  • Develop and maintain other required documentation to retain system accreditation such as plan of actions and milestones, security assessment reports, concept of operations, and network diagrams

  • Ensure information is protected appropriately based on required standards, while also ensuring business continuity and reliability is maintained

  • Act as the IS lead for all matters associated with incident response and reporting

  • Ensure company policies align with required government and customer standards

  • Provide audits and author assessments associated with IS

  • Work hand in hand with the EMD (Physical) Security team for all matters related to the protection of individuals, information, technology, and property from external threats




Your Expertise:



  • Active Personnel Security Clearance OR the ability to obtain and maintain a Personnel Security Clearance

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience OR 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree

  • Maintain IS professional certifications commensurate with applicable IA requirements

  • Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and efforts

  • Ability to work within a team environment and convey knowledge and skill on to other members of the team in support of IS efforts

  • Knowledge and experience managing and maintaining accredited systems

  • Cohesive experience in standards and IS requirements

  • Experience with the delivery of strategic projects from conception to implementation

  • Broad IT experience covering Microsoft base products, Microsoft Active Directory, the Cisco product family, and UNIX/LINUX

  • Proven collaborator with technology teams, business groups, and senior executives
