Senior Sales Engineer

As part of Exlar's Ground and Naval Defense (GaND) sales team, provides sales support to help customers select and integrate Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and customized actuators to meet their requirements. Support includes technical, commercial, and contractual (Terms and Conditions). May require up to 15% travel.

Location: Chanhassen, MN preferred but open to remote with the USA

Your Challenge:

  • Introduces new or existing customers to GaND products, and SMART actuators in particular, at trade shows, WebEx's, or customer visits, etc. Is able to discuss technical aspect of the actuator.
  • Provides pre-sales customer support to help determine what level of actuator customization (if any) is required to meet their objectives. Also assists with negotiating Terms and Conditions, gov't flowdowns, etc. Is able to perform initial actuator sizing. Follows-up with internal GaND engineering team as required.
  • Provides post-sales customer support to ensure the actuator(s) is meeting or exceeding the customer's requirements. Charts progress of platform to determine when it will move to the next phase (ie. Limited Rate Initial Production).
  • Understands Exlar's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system well enough to: 1) enter new or repair orders, 2) generate shipping documents, 3) run orders and sales reports, 4) check manufacturing status of the customer's actuator(s).
  • Tracks developments in the marketplace (military and similar) to determine if GaND's product development road map aligns with customer's future needs
  • Develops tight network of external contacts within the industry who are able to provide insight on Internally- funded Research and Development (IRAD) programs and Gov't funded developmental programs

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience selling highly engineered products to US military prime contractors.
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations to support initial actuator sizing.
  • Working knowledge or FAR and DFARS.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who seeks to grow GaND's sale base.
  • Ability to handle multiple opportunities and meet strict deadlines.
