Business Unit Director & Site Leader - Embedded Electronics Computing

We are seeking an individual with proven business and people leadership skills combined with an embedded product development background, preferably from within the Defense industry, to join our team onsite and head up our Ashburn, Virginia facility. The facility is a core part of our C5ISR Business Unit within the Defense Solutions group and is focused on our US-based product development and operations. You will be responsible for the leadership of the site including the day-to-day management of all of its functions and driving the C5ISR strategy for the Ashburn facility. In addition to managing all commercial activities, you will oversee specific activities related to US defense program efforts and cleared personnel at the site.

The site leader will be responsible for ensuring that all required business processes and practices are followed locally, and for improving the performance of the business, including the promotion, preparation and reporting of key performance metrics. Your focus will be on the local management of the Engineering team, the Product Management team, the operations team, and other site centric operations.

You will play a key role in the review and management of the features for new products out of the product management team, using your market insights to balance the market needs against Return on Investment (ROI), Time-to-Market (TTM), and cost and resource availability.

As the Ashburn site leader, you will also be a key member of both the C5ISR management team and the Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions management team. As part of the management team, you will play a significant role in new business development, working closely with the Sales team and customers to develop new opportunities and present them to senior management with a supporting business case.

Your Expertise:

A minimum of 7 years relevant experience leading a high-performance engineering and product development organization within computing electronics , and a proven track record of successfully managing a P&L, along with the ability to provide strong leadership, developing trust and confidence in staff, and with senior leadership. A strong embedded product engineering background is desired. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a personnel security clearance.
