Responsible for short and long term plans to organize, plan and execute all activities related to the manufacturing planning, scheduling, production control, and supply chain management (SCM). This includes oversight of Planning, Production Control, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Receiving, and Shipping departments. Manages these functions to provide high quality products, on time and in a cost effective manner.

Your Challenge:

  • Develops and implements the company's Manufacturing Planning & Control (MP&C) functions including all of the following activities: master scheduling, production planning/coordination, shop scheduling and dispatching, material requirements, planning systems, work-in-process tracking, material and labor variance controls, and manufacturing performance reporting.
  • Approves quantities, schedules and parts lists provided to the material control organization to ensure timely and complete ordering, as well as receipt and issuance of production material requirements.
  • Responsible for planning, reviewing, and developing MP&C and SCM procedures and personnel.
  • Coordinate production control and materials functions using enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Maintains reports to reflect scheduling, methods, support performance and process procedures.
  • Review and approve internal and detail schedules, and report overall status of progress and performance.
  • Through subordinates, responsible to plan the release of manufacturing orders and purchase requisitions.
  • Hold production status meetings. Interact with counterparts, both in and out of the materials area, to establish priorities, identify problem areas, and recommend corrective action.
  • Review reports for integrity of data and initiate corrective action of incorrect information.
  • Prepare quotations and cost to complete estimates.
  • Determine appropriate action to offset schedule slips, material shortages
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Supports five-year strategic planning process, including product delivery, sales and manpower planning.
  • Key driver of Sales and Operations Planning process
  • Reviews released programs. Reviews/approves adequate plans to ensure meeting the Company's goals. Plans may include but not limited to material procurement, shop capacity, human resources needs, tooling, budgets, and others as applicable.
  • Reviews new requests for quotations (RFQ) from contract/sales department. Coordinates and provides complete manufacturing quotation estimates, including materials and special processing.
  • Oversees/investigates employee's complaints, bargaining unit grievances, accident reports, hazardous material handling, safety procedures, employees and work environment safety in general.
  • Initiates/recommends development of subordinates identifying needed training, on-the-job mentoring, others as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager/General Manager to support the Company's goals.

Your Expertise:

  • Minimum ten (10) years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years as a manager of people.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • APICS Body of Knowledge proficiency a plus
  • Oracle ERP proficiency a plus
  • Prior experience in managing budgets.
  • Prior experience in being accountable for revenue plan.
  • Able to set policy and execute with minimal direction from the General Manager
  • Decision Making Requirements: Consulted on complex decisions and share responsibility for final decisions that require interpretation
  • Problem Solving Requirements: Circumstances, facts and issues that are different than those encountered in the past, require interpretive, evaluative, creative and innovative thinking
  • Must possess the mental capacity to comprehend information provided daily and make own decisions.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business or Operations Management.
  • Bachelors in Operations Management preferred.
  • MBA or equivalent a plus.
  • Due to the nature of the work performed at this facility, this role may require a DOD Government security clearance. Incumbents must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance while employed by this site.
