Job Description

Job Responsibilities:



  • Conduct surveys and evaluate data to determine and correct or prevent employee exposures to radioactive materials and radiation. 

  • Check the effectiveness of existing techniques, procedures and equipment.

  • Collect individual samples for evaluation of industrial hygiene and health physics problems. Obtain all data necessary for complete evaluation of a problem.

  • Follow procedures for receiving, handling, surveying, storing, shipping and disposal of radioactive and hazardous materials in line with Nuclear Regulatory Commission, DOT and state regulations.

  • Maintain all monitoring records essential to and necessary compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, results of air samples, smears, water discharge, personnel monitoring, bioassay results and results of radioactive surveys. 

Education/Experience:



  • High School graduate with two years college or two years formal training in health physics related subjects or radiological controls or the equivalent.

  • Minimum of two years' experience in the field of Industrial Hygiene or Health Physics. 

  • Experience with radiation safety, radiation protection and/or radioactive material shipping

This position would require training on first shift, but could be assigned at any time to either second shift 3:30 p.m. -- 11:30 p.m. or third shift 11:30 a.m.- 7:30 a.m.


 Must be US citizen and be able to obtain DOD security clearance.


This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of U.S. regulations.
