Manager of Cost & Operational Accounting

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and/or maintaining the cost accounting system. We are seeking an innovative, driven, and motivated Cost Accountant that has over seven years of experience within the manufacturing industry. This individual needs to have strong data extrapolation and reconciliation skills, and the ability to analyze manufacturing variances on a daily and monthly basis. This role will require a minimum of 10% international travel. The role is expected to contribute as a business partner with Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain. The role is aimed at the development and succession planning for the Business Unit Controller.

Your Challenge:

  • Detailed, hands-on work of cost accounting and inventory analysis and reporting.
  • Produces weekly margin, manufacturing variances and inventory analysis and reporting.
  • Prepares monthly cost and inventory reporting analysis and statements.
  • Monthly forecasting and review of inventory reserves and manufacturing operational variances.
  • Monthly management and reporting of Capital and Freight Spending.
  • Market Improvements (M.I.) monthly reported cost savings verification.
  • Prepares month end journal entries, maintain, and reconcile ledger accounts, determine inventory reserve requirements.
  • Monthly Review Meetings with Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain.
  • Lead and or support annual Farris Group physical inventories that include on-site implementation (Canada, U.K., China, and US).
  • Annual Cost Roll coordination, preparation, and implementation of standard cost rates.
  • Annual Budget and Monthly Forecasting preparation and reporting.
  • Responsible for determination and review of internal controls and SOX requirements related to cost and inventory.
  • Review's analysis, preparation and reporting of Customer quotes, for Farris Projects.
  • Collects data, allocates costs and prepares reports on labor, equipment, depreciation, assembly, or other operating expenses, ensuring that established procedures are followed.
  • Other ad hoc and special reporting related to cost and inventory.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance. MBA and or Accounting Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles in a standard cost environment and project costing.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong experience in ERP system required. Exposure to LN ERP system a strong plus.
  • Excellent critical thinking / analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office software required especially Excel.
  • Strong communication (written and oral), organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work in team environment with shared responsibilities.
  • Ability to set priorities, self-starter, and strong sense of urgency.
  • Must have problem solving ability to bring issues to resolution.
  • International travel required (approximately 10%).
