Manual Machinist

Under general supervision, performs routine and semi-routine assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual machines and shop equipment, general supervision, works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

Location: Edmonton, AB

Your Challenge:

• Manufacture and inspect detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions
• Extensive lathe 4-jaw use with special attention to concentricity and parallelism
• Knowledge of manual milling, radial arm drill, and other manual machining tools as required.
• Machining parts from castings and/or bar stock from a variety of materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, exotic alloys, plastics, and hard facing (Stellite).
• Machining repair of valve and components for daily repairs as well as rush shutdowns
• Meeting company established safety, quality, and productivity goals
• Other duties as required.

Your Expertise:

• 2-3 years of manual machining experience
• Previous experience manufacturing and repairing valve components is an asset
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and interpret process worksheets, inspect parts and maintain acceptable quality and efficiency level.
