The Opportunity | Mechanical Designer

Under direct supervision, prepares working plans, detailed drawings and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of moderately complex components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions and rough or detailed sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes, using computerized equipment.

Your Challenge

• Create design models and finished drawings using PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
• Work directly with engineers to create racks, cabinets, and related equipment for use on Naval Ships in a severe vibration and high shock environment.
• Must be capable of taking a rough layout through design process to final drawings including mechanical sub-assemblies, parts lists, details, wire lists, etc.
• Perform dimensional calculations and tolerance studies, revise drawings as required.
• Verify completed work, checking dimensions, materials and quantities to be used.

Your Expertise

• Associate's Degree or equivalent training and experience required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 4 years or more of mechanical design/drafting experience.
• Computer Aided Design (CAD) software engineering methods and techniques for use in the investigation and solution of technical problems.
• Knowledge of and experience with machined parts and welded assemblies desired.
• Printed wiring board experience using Mentor Graphics PADS Layout, Logic, and DX Designer a plus.
• Drawing and data management using PTC Windchill desired.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance
• Must be a U.S Citizen
