Product Line Manager - Networking

Curtiss-Wright is a world leader in supplying rugged electronics to the airborne and defense industries. If you have flown on an airplane, chances are you have put your trust in technologies developed by Curtiss-Wright.

Our Ottawa facility serves and the Center of Excellence for the engineering design/development as well as manufacturing of our largest COTS product families. We are looking for an individual with insight and passion for technology combined with strong sales and business leadership skills to join the Curtiss-Wright team as the Product Manager for our Networking / Ethernet Switching product lines.

You will be responsible for the commercial success of these product lines, carrying new product ideas from inception through market and business analysis, development of solution architectures, oversight of engineering implementation, and take the lead in product launch plans, expansion and growth strategies, and eventual product sunset. You will own the entire product portfolio, defining and maintaining product roadmaps and market needs.

Wearing your Sales hat, you will serve as the subject matter expert, working directly with customers and sales teams worldwide to help drive strategic pursuits and drive customers to select Curtiss-Wright solutions. These efforts will grow your understanding of customer and market needs.

Your strong technical skills will guide the development of new products by staying on top of emerging technologies and industry standards. Working with engineering and product development teams you will define product features to meet the market need so together we can build industry leading technology solutions.

Bridging both the sales and the technology worlds, you will define and drive innovative products and solutions that differentiate through features, price, services, support or other key customer value propositions, to beat out the competition.

Your Challenge:

  • Using market and industry research, combined with technology developments and customer needs, you will ensure that our products are both competitive and differentiated in the markets we serve.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for existing and new products to increase market share and gain the competitive edge.
  • Manage the ongoing health of the product line through regular sales and market forecasts.
  • For new products and enhancements, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting the full business case, include financial and other business metrics to measure success, to leadership teams for project approval.
  • Provide Engineering with market and product requirements and support them through technical implementation to ensure the product meets the market needs.
  • Monitor developments to ensure they maintain cost and schedule targets and manage scope and schedule change reviews when appropriate.
  • Seek out and develop partner relationships to enhance the value proposition of products and solutions for Curtiss-Wright.
  • Participate in the development of customer proposals by providing systems analysis of customer requirements and technical and marketing input.
  • Assist the Sales team as Subject Matter Expert in discussions with customers
  • Support marketing content creation and product line positioning -- including roadmap presentations, white papers, seminars, articles, product value propositions.

You have:

  • A relevant hardware/software engineering degree, or equivalent experience
  • A relevant business degree, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Product, Program and/or Engineering Management, or Product Marketing
  • The ability to understand target market needs and drive the creation of innovative and differentiated products that solve customer problems and support their success
  • Advanced knowledge of Ethernet networking technologies and standards, including switching, routing, IEEE/IETF standards and protocols, 1G, 10G, 40G and 100G Ethernet technologies, copper and optical interfaces.
  • Advanced knowledge of network system architectures, hardware, software and related solutions within the networking market
  • Working knowledge of Cisco, Broadcom and other industry leading Ethernet solution hardware and software providers.
  • Knowledge of networking software products which provide software and system enablement solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of PCIe interconnect technologies
  • A good understanding of industry form factor standards including VME, VPX, XMC
  • An entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and sense of urgency, and you are a highly motivated self-starter
  • Had success in identifying business opportunities and developing their potential
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • A good understanding of product, market & marketing strategy development
  • A good business acumen
