The Opportunity | Design Project Engineer

Curtiss-Wright is looking for a Design Project Engineer to join our Shelby, NC facility of Curtiss Wright is a part of the Industrial Division. We produce design and produce Actuators for the Aerospace market. The Project Engineer performs a variety of engineering activities an analysis design or test nature. They participate on project teams to provide guidance to less experienced engineers and technical staff. The successful candidate will be able to plan, conduct and supervise research, development or instillation of new products and systems in conformance with engineering design and customer specification.

Your challenge:

  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

  • Study processes to determine where and how application of equipment can be made.Setup up and prove out all new CNC programs prior to production.

  • Track project schedule and costs as well as report schedule escapes and cost overruns.

  • Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering construction, or extraction projects, and prepare contract documents.

Your expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer or relevant field

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications

  • Knowledge of basic electronic and mechanical assembly principles

  • Experience with mathematical concepts (probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry) and apply concepts to practical situations

  • Familiarity with aerospace materials and processes is a plus
