Quality Assurance Engineer

The ideal candidate will play a key role in the Quality Assurance organization to ensure both customer and company quality requirements are met. Applies quality standards for receiving, in-process and final inspection in accordance with customer contractual requirements. Reviews and evaluates complex in-process rejections and facilitates corrective action, as needed. Interfaces with customers, vendors and various company departments to resolve quality problems and provide information. Participates in audits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned responsibilities in planning and implementing quality assurance programs on customer orders. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Quality Assurance systems, methods, and procedures
    • Statistical methods to control and evaluate process capabilities, where applicable
    • Development of quality assurance data packages for customer review
  • Coordinates quality activities with customers, suppliers, and third-party oversight bodies as necessary.
  • Reviews and evaluates contractual requirements in specifications and drawings with specific attention to quality requirements.
  • Provides leadership in acquiring and implementing improved QA techniques and processes and makes key processes visible.
  • Serves as the key process owner and monitor for processes within the scope of area of specific responsibility.
  • Improves and creates standardized quality processes.
  • Ensures 100% quality and regulatory compliance in accordance with documented procedures for all aspects of functional responsibility.
  • Provides subject matter expertise while interacting with internal and external customers as well as suppliers by meeting regularly, responding to requests, and resolving issues as they may arise.
  • Reviews and approves bills of material, purchase requisitions, and component certifications related to assigned projects. Prepares and provides detailed quality assurance inputs to such documents.
  • Performs internal audits.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and answers customer correspondence.
  • Supports in-process Hold/Witness Points at facility.
  • Participates in the preparation and maintenance of quality program manuals and related department and divisional procedures.
  • Reviews and evaluates in-process rejections, obtains disposition, evaluates root causes, and implements corrective action when needed.
  • Identifies potential project quality issues


  • Experience in planning and implementing quality assurance programs
  • Degree strongly preferred, BS Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated strong attention to details
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be US Citizen and able to obtain DOD security clearance

Prefer experience in:

  • Nuclear Power Industry or Nuclear Navy experience is an asset
  • Manufacturing environment
  • Regulated Industries (e.g., food, aerospace, transportation, biotech)
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015
  • Lead Auditor certification
