The Director, Supply Chain is responsible for the operational objectives for the supply chain function within the business unit. Divisional activities include implementation of timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control of materials, and overall production planning. Additionally, responsibilities include proper inventory forecasting, overall commodity supply plans, and revenue forecasting. The incumbent also has direct management responsibility for the Purchasing, Planning, and Logistics teams and externally will be expected to represent Curtiss-Wright to outside suppliers at all levels of the organization.

The Challenge:

  • Ensure product supply is timed to satisfy external and internal customer requirements by managing the procurement of materials to ensure the best cost, optimal delivery targets and that quality performance meets expectations.
  • Ensures forecasting, master planning, production planning, and capacity loading is completed to meet customer and revenue commitments.
  • Provide direction and guidance to the Purchasing staff in managing a supply base of > 150 suppliers and an annual spend of > $40M for direct material spend. Also, support capital expenditures for multiple sites with an annual spend > $6M. May involve negotiating major contracts involving large dollar amounts
  • Provide direction to the Planning group whose key objectives include: scheduling of customer orders, On-Time Release of work orders to production, On-Time Delivery to customers, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides direction to Warehouse group who are responsible for the movement and control of Raw and Finished material in order to meet customer requirements
  • Develop and manage critical supplier relationships, i.e. "top ten suppliers". Critical may also mean suppliers of strategic importance
  • Take a lead role in the management of obsolescence issues to ensure alternatives and options are thoroughly investigated and closed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the RFQ process to support company bids and proposals, for both external and internal opportunities. Working in conjunction with Quality Assurance, manage the supplier selection and maintenance processes to ensure the supplier base meets company requirements for cost, quality, delivery, and customer service.
  • Liaise with other CWCEC procurement organizations for the planning and execution of material supply plans for all CWCEC requirements.
  • Lead policy and procedure creation/implementation, objective setting, and budgeting processes for Supply Chain function.
  • Responsible for the direction, development, and succession plans for Supply Chain staff.
  • Overall responsibility for all associated annual operating budgets

Education & Experience:

  • University graduate with 10-12 years experience in supply chain management with a minimum of 5 years senior management experience.
  • PMAC certification and SAP experience would be an asset.
  • Experience implementing and driving supply chain management procedures within as AS9100 certified Quality Management System is a definite asset.
