Senior Embedded Software Engineering Manager

The Senior Embedded Software Manager manages a major function of the engineering activities for the reporting unit with budget responsibility for the engineering functions managed. They are responsible for the employment, training, motivation and evaluation of assigned staff. They direct the development of system requirements and specifications for various systems through multiple phases, make decisions and recommendations that have impact on engineering and related activities of the division.

Your Challenge:

  • Serves as a manager of an embedded Linux SW Engineering group.
  • Ensures adequate resources are available for projects, standard tools are available to perform tasks, and creating and monitoring processes.
  • Works closely with project managers to provide development task estimates, monitoring status and progress and ensuring the team completes tasks on time and on budget.
  • Becomes familiar with the various product software functions and features, software architectures and implementations and ensures software engineer outputs meet requirements and software quality standards.
  • Along with technical leads, supports sales quote and customer support activities.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Field of Study: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science
  • 10-12 years of experience required
  • Refined soft skills required for coaching/mentoring.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent analysis and decision making skills.
  • Strong customer interface capabilities and negotiation skills required.
  • Project Management experience and familiarity in root cause and corrective action methodologies.
  • Proven accomplishments in positions of leadership managing various levels of engineers and the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external management.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with high performance real-time embedded Linux operating systems, tool chains, drivers, applications and testing.
  • Creativity, innovation, commitment to excellence with the ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment.
  • Customer focused with a bias towards action.
  • Due to the nature of the work performed at this facility, this role may require a DOD Government security clearance. Incumbents must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance while employed by this site.
  • Proven experience with large scale C language software development projects
  • Proven experience managing multiple, simultaneous development projects
