Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Reliability and Components Engineer to join us at our Santa Clarita facility in California. You will report to the Hardware Engineering Manager and provide technical support to the Systems Design group regarding reliability analysis reports, failure modes and effects analysis as well as parametric search & selection of replacement for a wide range of components for the Electrical design group. You are a highly enthusiastic engineering professional with an open mind to technical and organizational direction and with exceptional communication skills and technical knowledge.
Your Challenge:

  • Plan and develop project specific reliability and FMECA reports per customer schedules

  • Plan, develop and drive necessary obsolesce management life time buys and alternate parts charge orders

  • Achieving forecasted on-time delivery of obsolete parts replacement for current production material and new product development activity

  • Responsible for developing, managing and communicating the reliability & maintainability methodology for development programs to internal and external customers.

  • Assess Mean time between failure (MTBF) and Mean Time Between Critical Failures (MTBCF) for electronic systems

  • Human factors impact analysis and reports

  • Generating updates to system reliability (such as predictions, part stress analyses and part de-rating), availability and maintainability models

  • Formulate reliability analyses and predictions (including development of failure rate estimates based on handbook techniques and historical data) using Windchill Quality Solutions software.

  • Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS)

  • Conduct analysis on board and system level components using MIL-HDBK-217 MTBF & MIL-STD-1629 FMECA techniques

  • Coordinate failure analysis and corrective action activities on component quality issues.

  • Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies of diverse scope, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability.

  • Acts as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources.

  • Maintain component data management system including qualification records/results/documentation

  • Degree: Bachelor of Science Electrical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • 4+ yrs of experience component engineering with recent and demonstrated experience components analysis and obsolescence management

  • Strong knowledge in electronic systems reliability analysis

  • Knowledge of hazardous material, RoHS, REACH legislation and requirements is an asset
