The Opportunity | Sr. Design Engineer

Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of moderately complex software and/or hardware engineering activities of an analysis, design or test nature. Participates on project teams and provides guidance to less experienced engineers and technical staff. Plans, conducts and may supervise research, development or installation of products and systems in conformance with engineering design and customer specification. Engineering activities support both domestic and international products/services.

Your Challenge:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Coordinate and provide support for production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs. Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Study processes to determine where and how application of equipment can be implemented.
  • Utilize 3D modeling, FE analysis, computational methodology, or other tools to design and develop new products.
  • Lead effort to continuously improve on and develop new design methods/tools for CW products.
  • Lead new product design projects by coordinating steering committees for selection and approval of new opportunities, developing new project teams, developing project timelines, creating all technical documents including technical proposals, analysis documents, design review packets, qualification documentation (similarity and analysis reports, qualification test plans, qualification test procedures, etc.), coordinating internal and external (with customers) reviews.
  • Specify product components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Develop the structural design of products and provide feedback to functional teams on customer problems.
  • Investigate product failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to production team.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience, including 1-2 years in a supervisory role, within the aerospace industry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office.
  • Capable of coordinating multiple project responsibilities
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
