The Opportunity | Sr. Manager - Business Development, Sales & Marketing (Defense)
Reporting to the Sr. General Manager, the Sr. Business Development Director sets Target Rock Group (TRG) sales and marketing strategies in the nuclear power market. They will be responsible for directing market research activities, including current market segments historical trends, growth rates, economics and competition, as well as future market opportunities to ensure TRG has adequate information and understanding of all potential markets. They will also be required to identify, evaluate and manage mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures.
Essential Functions:

  • Performs internal and external business development, sales and marketing function to identify and develop opportunities for business expansion, including, but not limited to new markets and products

  • Advises management on market conditions strategies; prepares detailed business cases and recommendations to enter new markets and launch new products

  • Sets TRG sales strategy and monitors plans/actions of other CW sales, marketing and business development groups servicing the naval defense market

  • Establishes and pursues 5-year strategic and annual new order plans

  • Leads Defense sales/proposal development team, setting proposal strategy and directing preparation of Technical and Commercial proposals

  • Identifies objectives and action plans to improve short and long-term order capture

  • Prepares and routes Buck Sheet financial analysis for proposals >$500K

  • Trends RFQs and proposals by maintaining the Pipeline Proposal Log

  • Leads contract negotiations, with Divisions Contracts, as required

  • Maintains level of oversight to ensure compliance with industry regulations, regulatory agencies, export laws and technology transfer as they apply to proposal development and contract negotiation

  • Supports Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

  • Prepares reports for senior management (e.g. monthly new order budgets, plan, and actuals)

  • Supports/leads aspects of M&A activities to include research, assessment, diligence, and negotiation
Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • U. S. Citizenship / DoD security clearance required

  • 7+ years management and Defense Sales/Marketing

  • Technical aptitude and experience selling highly engineered products.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office

  • Must be able and willing to work out of the East Farmingdale, NY facility on a full-time basis
Education/Training:

  • Technical background required; BS Engineering and MBA preferred
