Electrical Test Technician

Under minimal supervision, performs moderately complex technical functions related to the testing of a wide variety of electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems. Utilizing test procedures and other written instructions, selects the appropriate Measurement & Test Equipment, builds test set-ups, and conducts tests to collect data and evaluate the operability and acceptability of the components or system to the requirements of the test plan. Documents data on applicable data sheets. Records and reports failures and test anomalies. Works with engineering and project coordinators as needed in the development of test procedures. Initiates and participates in continuous improvement activities. Performs all work in a safe an efficient manner.

Your Challenge:

  • Uses test procedures, investigates and analyzes test failures.
  • Documents the review and evaluation of in-process rejections and trends, recommending corrective action as appropriate.
  • Works with established test procedures and performs calibration of measuring and testing equipment. May assist with development of test specifications, methods and procedures.
  • Provides assistance in the areas of predictability, manufacturing processing, equipment and process improvement.
  • May prepare technical reports and product verification documentation summarizing findings and recommending solutions to a wide variety of technical problems.
  • May perform parts dimensional inspection for Z299.3 program.

Your Expertise:

  • Solid understanding of electricity;
    • Alternating and Direct Current.
    • Ohm's Law, Power Law.
    • Using Ohm's Law, Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test electrical control equipment, calculate and construct resistive loads.
    • Assembles and tests, switch panels, transformers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components according to test plans and knowledge of electrical principles.
    • Develop wiring diagrams and layout drawings
    • Measure Voltage, Current, Capacitance, Inductance, Impedance and Resistance.
    • Construction of Series Circuits.
    • Construction of Parallel Circuits.
    • Construction of AC or DC circuits.
    • Use of power supplies, Voltmeters, High potential testers, Meggers, Decade resistance boxes, Primary Current Injection Testing, Automatic Relay Testing, ScopeCorders and other common electrical testing devices.
    • Three-Phase electric power.
    • Connections of transformers Power "Y" or star and Delta.
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Detail oriented.
  • High School or Equivalent required.
  • Technical/Trade School highly desired.
