The Opportunity | Technical Lead, Debug


As a contributing member of the team, you will apply detailed debug and troubleshooting techniques to diagnose manufacturing and design-related problems that have been identified at a CWDS customer or fallout from manufacturing yield.



Major Accountabilities /Deliverables



  • Responsible for debug of a wide variety of complex graphics circuit cards, single board computers, Ethernet switches and routers, etc. in VME, cPCI, VPX, and XMC form factors

  • Debug and diagnose complex electronic circuits by setting up and performing functionality tests and specialized tests in order to track down the root cause of the product failures.

  • Perform methodical, disciplined techniques to meet customer expectations and internal targets for OTD metrics

  • Identify non-conforming products and components.

  • Document symptoms as required to allow engineering staff to further analyze problems where necessary.

  • Feedback technical issues to Quality, Manufacturing Engineering or Test Engineering Support.

  • Suggest process improvements

  • Complete all logs, reports and data gathering in accordance with established procedures.

  • Work with engineering on technical investigations by executing tests and providing data as directed by engineering

  • Attend all provided test and debug training.

  • Confirm all equipment is calibrated.

  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

  • Complete Mandatory training as required

  • Comply with all Workmanship standards

  • Provide mentoring to staff including technical guidance



Qualifications:



  • Knowledgeable / trainable in the interpretation and application of the following standards: IPC-A-610 Class 3; J-STD-001 or IPC-7711/7721 would be an asset

  • Interpreting product schematics diagrams to aid in debugging products

  • Experience with SAP, Agile PLM, or another MRP is an asset

  • Familiar with Cisco software would be an asset

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Experience with digital circuits with respect to fault diagnosis.

  • Experience working with test procedures and supporting documents.

  • Good working knowledge of graphics protocols and technologies such as LVDS and TMDS in both analog and digital formats.

  • Experience with VME, VPX and PCI architecture would be an asset.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Familiar with DOS operating system and Windows environment.

  • Good working knowledge of PowerPC based products.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Supervisory skills would be a definite asset.

  • Previous experience leading a team is highly desirable


Minimum Education requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineer, Computer Science or other relevant area with a minimum of five years of experience in test/debug on processor or graphics products and/or equivalent

  • A background in electronics manufacturing is required and experience with IPC 610-D Class 3 requirements is an asset.
