The Opportunity | Technical Sales Engineer

We are seeking an energetic, well-spoken, and eager-to-close Technical Sales Engineer that will generate new revenue within our Surface Technologies market segment and drive customer growth. The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for planning, organizing, and developing customer relationships that will produce optimum profitability. They will be responsible for liaising directly with existing and potential customers in a technical capacity in order to develop new sales.

Your Challenge

  • Identify sales opportunities in existing & new market segments to generate immediate revenue.

  • Identify new service and product revenue based on our versatile technology offerings to expand market share with new and existing accounts.

  • Assist Commercial, Division and/or Regional Managers with evaluating market trends and how trends impact business / direction, measures the existing markets and company's share

  • Maintain and cultivate existing key accounts by establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships and maintaining personal contact with top echelon (key) customers and internal/external customers alike, in support of meeting and/or exceeding targeted business goals.

  • Develop long and short-term strategic plans/strategies for acquiring new and managing existing accounts and maximizing market penetration.

  • Identify objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short and long term sales and earnings.

  • Interpret long and short term effect on sales strategies in operating profit.

  • Provide forecasting for new and potential accounts as required.

  • Ensure the effective use of the sales accountability program throughout the division.

  • Provide first line in technical discussions with potential and existing customers and promote particular services and facilities.

Your Expertise

  • Minimum 7+ years of sales experience preferably in a manufacturing/engineering environment as a technical background in this area is essential to develop the key markets and promote business units' technical products and services along with a broad understanding of manufacturing methods, practices and procedures.

  • Experience in developing key manufacturing markets and sectors preferably in Surface Engineering.

  • Strong communication, presentation and public speaking skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer interfacing abilities and can positively influence others.

  • Excellent ability to quickly understand and identify technical and business opportunities.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage difficult situations.

  • Solid computer skills experience with Microsoft applications.

  • An educational background in business or engineering.
