Buyer, Staff

Under general direction, purchases a variety of materials, supplies and services. Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value. May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing. Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues. 

This is a high mix, low volume environment.

Location: Chanhassen, MN

The Challenge:

  • Contact suppliers to ensure that all deliveries will arrive on time.
  • Maintain constant contact with vendors while deliveries are in route.
  • Notify supply chain and operations teams in a timely manner if a critical delivery is going to be late.
  • Deliver all PO's to vendors by email.
  • Responsible for specific vendor and purchase order management.
  • Work with vendors to solve invoicing issues that could delay shipments.
  • Prepares reports, spreadsheets, and other related documentation.
  • Inputs data into MRB system.
  • Conduct supplier and material analysis.
  • Works cross functionally between buying and operations.
  • Conducts supplier site visits and rates them as to production capability, performance and delivery.

Your Expertise:

  • Associate's degree in Supply chain or Business management or equivalent work experience. Bachelor's degree is a preferred.
  • PMAC certification preferred, formal training in negotiation or other ISM/Apics certification
  • MS Office and thorough understanding of ERP systems is required.
  • Apics, Six sigma, Lean is a plus.
  • Recommended minimum of 2-3 years' experience.
