Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies ("CWST") is the group name for the collective technical services provided by the legacy companies of Metal Improvement Company("MIC"), E/M Coating Services, Everlube Products, FW Gartner Thermal Spraying, Para Tech Coating, Component Coating & Repair Services, Bolt's Metallizing and IMR Test Labs.

CWST is a Division of Curtiss-Wright Corporation, a global innovative company that delivers highly engineered, critical function products and services to the commercial, industrial, defense and energy markets.

The Engineering Group is a team of 20 people split between 3 locations in North Carolina, Wisconsin, and the United Kingdom. The Engineering Group supports all 70+ CWST facilities with new machines, repairs/upgrades to existing machines, and various process improvement projects. These projects can range from robotic automation to 3d Printed Tooling to testing equipment.

This Intern/Co-Op position will work out of the Gastonia, NC location.

As a Co-Op, you will be asked to perform the activities listed below with speed and quality. There is ample opportunity to learn in this position and is best suited to someone who has initiative, ownership of their work, and enjoys solving problems. You will be working closely with other engineers and will be given any help, instruction, or training needed but will have autonomy to complete your projects.

Co-op Activities/Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design of new components/machines
  • Create SolidWorks models, assemblies and drawings
  • Operate and maintain our Raise3d N2+ printer
  • Support machine builds, troubleshooting, & repairs
  • Research and procure materials from vendors
  • Potentially travel to facilities for on-site work

Qualifications Desired

  • Mechanical Engineering student of sophomore standing or higher with at least a 3.0 GPA in major
  • CAD Modeling Experience (ideally SolidWorks)
  • 3d Printing Experience (using Simplify3d software)
  • Design & Build Experience (i.e. Robot team, Catapult Team, HPVC Team, or personal projects)
