Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies ("CWST") is the group name for the collective technical services provided by the legacy companies of Metal Improvement Company("MIC"), E/M Coating Services, Everlube Products, FW Gartner Thermal Spraying, Para Tech Coating, Component Coating & Repair Services, Bolt's Metallizing and IMR Test Labs. CWST is a Division of Curtiss-Wright Corporation, a global innovative company that delivers highly engineered, critical function products and services to the commercial, industrial, defense and energy markets.

The Engineering Group is a team of 20 people split between 3 locations in North Carolina, Wisconsin, and the United Kingdom. The Engineering Group supports all 70+ CWST facilities with new machines, repairs/upgrades to existing machines, and various process improvement projects. These projects can range from robotic automation to 3d Printed Tooling to testing equipment.

Electrical/Controls Engineer

We are looking for an Electrical/Controls Engineer that will grow to become an expert in our control systems and equipment.

This role will be intimately involved in the design and programming of a variety of electrical/PLC/SCADA/robotic control systems. This involvement will be through the whole software/systems life cycle, from design through coding, testing, installation, configuration, and documentation.

Location: Gastonia, NC

Your Challenge:

  • Responsible for developing electrical, controls, and automation solutions for equipment built in CWST Engineering (Gastonia, NC)
  • Providing technical support for that equipment as it is deployed in CWST facilities around the world.
  • Travel to various CWST sites globally for equipment installation as well as
  • Success in this position will require a strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical aspects of the machines to provide the appropriate designs in electrical hardware/machine automation.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or similar field.
  • Experience with electrical systems and components (circuit breakers, relays, switches, transmitters, power supplies, etc.).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar or complimentary role
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound engineering judgement to resolve technical challenges
  • Programming experience is desirable - including PLCs, Industrial Automation software, LabVIEW, C++, etc.
  • Electrical wiring layouts/schematics/diagrams using CAD tools
  • Communication protocols (Ethernet, Profibus, EtherCAT)
  • Experience in manufacturing processes is desirable

Travel required at least 20%.
