The Opportunity | Mechanical Design Engineer

Curtiss-Wright is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic and dedicated team at our Target Rock facility in East Farmingdale, NY. This position will involve working with a range of valve styles including Solenoid, Gate, Globe, Check, Pressure Relief and Pressure Regulator. The successful candidate will have previous proven experience and looking for a challenging role with a leading company. You will be passionate about Design and have strong knowledge of computer programs.

Your Challenge

• Performing design and analysis activities for new design/development and existing product improvement programs
• Coordinating design activities with the Design/Drafting group and Project Engineering
• Providing oversight of design reports and analysis work conducted by sub-tier suppliers
• Maintaining and executing projects for the Target Rock PID (Product Improvement and Development) Program
• Reviewing specifications for compliance with proposed design
• Overseeing and preparing design drawings and 3D models
• Preparation and review of design reports
• Standardizing Design Methods and analysis techniques
• Maintaining designs for the entire product life-cycle; from conceptual design to manufacture, assembly, test, and customer support

Your Expertise

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Nuclear)
• A minimum of three years proven experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of products and industry requirements
• Proficient in analysis techniques (structural, thermal, flow, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Strong working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Mathcad, AutoCAD, LabVIEW, ANSYS, NX and Teamcenter
• Knowledge of Valve Design preferred
• Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards related to preparing manufacturing drawings
• Working knowledge of ASME B&PV Code and/or SDB-63/VDM-71 desirable
• Due to the nature of the work performed at this facility, this role may require a DOD Government security clearance. Incumbents must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance while employed by this site.
