In conjunction with Technicians and Engineers in the Metallurgy Dept., the Prep Technician will section, mount and prepare metallurgical specimens using industry standard equipment and tools. With appropriate chemical safety training, the Prep Technician will work with acids to etch specimens for microstructural evaluation and perform basic metallurgical evaluations to improve the quality of preparation activities. 

Location: Lansing, NY

Hours: 2nd Shift (3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.)

Your Challenge:

• Section, mount and prepare metallurgical specimens.
• Utilize a variety of saws, grinders, sanders, presses and polishing equipment.
• Follow written IMR procedures, applicable industry standards, and customer supplied specifications and methods to properly prepare metallurgical mounts.
• Maintain communication with coworkers and supervisors/managers. Adapt to changing priorities and conflicting time demands as directed.

Your Expertise:

• High School or Equivalent required. 
• Technical/Trade School preferred. 
• Work experience within quality assurance, machining, and/or relevant lab work. 
• Knowledge of various measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers preferred.
