The Opportunity | Product Development Manager

Our Team is growing ... Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions, is recruiting for a Product Development Manager. Consider a rewarding, fast paced environment where you will work on bleeding-edge technology with some of the most talented Engineers in the Defense industry.

In this role, you will take ownership for leading the development of our advanced multi-computing products from the requirements stage through production release. You will demonstrate leadership through your strong technical background, proven ability to manage high performing cross-functional teams and your ability to create and manage engineering milestones on time and within budget.

Location: Ottawa, ON

Your Challenge:

  • Manage a multi-site, cross-functional team that includes hardware, software and mechanical engineering, support, test and production
  • Create, maintain and deliver to project development schedules and budgets
  • Provides guidance to developers as to design protocols, product specification development, desired functionality for new system level features
  • Responsible for moving the product from concept/specification definition through development to production release
  • Contributes to process improvements
  • Ensure adherence to Curtiss-Wright AS9100 processes
  • Provide technical oversight of the engineering teams
  • Engage with internal and external customers to gather requirements and deliver product solutions
  • Participate in bid/project activities such as developing technical proposals and providing detailed cost and schedule estimates
  • Manage 3rd party relationships and coordination of work for cross site initiatives
  • Contributes as a member of the leadership team in the business unit

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Minimum 8 years industry experience
  • Proven team management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self- confident leader capable of motivating and mentoring their staff
  • Team orientation and commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Experience with the creation and maintenance of project budgets and schedules
  • Familiarity with multi-core and multi-processor designs using ARM, Power, and Intel architectures
  • Experience with high-end FPGA design is valuable
  • A thorough understanding of hardware and software design processes
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Familiarity with design for rugged environments
  • Familiarity with the latest industry technologies, such as VPX, Gen 3/4 PCI Express, 40GE Ethernet, USB 3, DDR4 memory, PMC/XMC mezzanines, etc. is a plus

This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
