Tactical Communications Group (TCG) is a world-class leader in delivering Tactical Data Link (TDL) network solutions that allow military operating and training units, government testing organizations and prime defense contractors to quickly achieve better connectivity and capability at the tactical edge. The Project Manager assists the Engineering Director in directing the project life cycle by developing comprehensive project plans to include both long and short-range goals and milestones. Identifies, coordinates and monitors acquisition of engineering resources interfacing with other department including finance, purchasing and IT. Supervises PPQA of all engineering projects, monitoring and providing periodic PPQA reports to Engineering Director. Monitors project teams and encourages engineering teams to complete milestones within specific budgets and schedules. On occasion interfaces with external customers and often interfaces with top management for the purpose of communicating status of project throughout life cycle. The Project Manager evaluates, designs, executes, measures, monitors and influences the Engineering Department's policies and processes. It is the Project Manager's responsibility to ensure that process outcomes are in harmony with the organization's strategic goals. This individual works collaboratively across all departments of the organization to help to ensure business goals and objectives are achieved.

Your Challenge:

Project Management

  • Create and update project schedules for multiple software development projects and software qualification cycles. Create and conduct weekly project status meetings. Monitor resource allocations and project status and escalate as needed. Interface with Lead Engineers/Supervisors and Engineering Director.
  • Create and maintain SharePoint sites for project documentation and related artifacts.
  • Create Project Closure reports to assess planned vs. actual level of effort and schedule performance, lessons learned and process improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain actual versus estimated level of effort database; recommend potential changes to estimating models.
  • Identify and monitoring TCG's exposure and project risks.
  • Prepare monthly management project status reports and attend review meetings.
  • Participate in high level production planning and client configuration coordination with the Engineering Director and Production Manager of hardware assembly products.
  • Single point of contact and subject matter expert for Engineering's MS Project Professional application. Interface with IT as needed.

Configuration Management

  • Co-chair the Configuration Control Board weekly meetings with the Engineering Director.
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of the Configuration Management (CM) documentation library.
  • Assign project document names and numbers and monitor various project artifacts as defined by the Data Management Plan.
  • Update software version and test documentation for qualified software documentation.

Labor and Expense Tracking

  • Review and approve weekly time sheets for two time reporting systems.
  • Generate weekly and monthly labor and status reports. Monitor non-productive time (e.g., vacation, travel, etc.) and its impact on project schedules.
  • Coordinate requests, requisition and tracking of capital equipment, tools and supplies expenses for Engineering.
  • Coordinate job and WBS codes with Finance and Contracts.

Account Management and Proposal Support

  • Create and update SharePoint and OneNote repositories including customer proposal and contract information, deliverables, and related account activity.
  • Prepare and coordinate contract deliverables (e.g., monthly reports), monitor and report labor and invoice activity.
  • Attend weekly work order/shipment status meetings.
  • Assist with logistics and support for customer training events.
  • Participate in proposal development including project scoping, effort and schedules, as well as draft and review proposal text.

Quality Management and Process Improvement

  • Primary focal point for Engineering's process documentation and quality management system.
  • Conduct periodic PPQA project and process audits. Report results and conduct quarterly quality review meetings with VP Engineering.
  • Monitor and conduct periodic process documentation reviews. Coordinate updates with document owners as needed.
  • Continually seek opportunities to identify process improvements.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelors or related education
  • Microsoft Sharepoint Expert
  • Microsoft Project Expert
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint Expert
  • Excellent written communications skills.
  • Ability to proofread and correct technical documentation and communication
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, task-oriented and goal driven
  • Additional Microsoft Applications including Outlook, OneNote
  • Works effectively with multi-disciplined and cross-functional responsibilities on a wide range of projects
  • Process and quality management focused
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in software development and hardware assembly environment
  • U.S. Citizen (for clearance)
