Project Manager

The Project Manager will report to the Director of Engineering and work closely with Engineering Managers, Program Managers, Product Line Managers, Integrated Product Team leads and other Project Managers in the overall creation, maintenance and monitoring of engineering development project plans, integrated master schedule (IMS) contents, analyses, metrics and reporting using best project management practices. Project Managers will maintain the overall list and status of engineering projects including projects related to customer funded programs, internal research and development, periodic product firmware releases and sustaining engineering activities. The Sr. Project Manager, along with the other project management team members, will create and maintain projects within the integrated master schedule, monitor and justify staff time charges, monitor project task status and report on project status, risks and issues. The IMS includes all project activities from project creation to release to product and initial product deliveries, staff assignments and capacity planning. The Sr. Project Manager will create and analyze time/cost/risk profiles and report status regularly to the management team. Additional activities can also be assigned by the Director of Engineering.

Your Challenge:

  • Work with engineering management team to create project development WBS based estimates of new product development budgets and work with program management to ensure budgets are correctly entered into the system.
  • Create, maintain and analyze project schedules depicting all project pre-requisite activities, development tasks per development processes, manufacturing operations tasks, purchasing activities, and customer milestone and meeting commitments.
  • Provide options to mitigate risks and opportunities found during analysis.
  • Working with engineering managers, monitor status of engineering change notification and releases.
  • Ensure required readiness reviews are scheduled, executed and documented per required processes.
  • Collect Engineer and Technician task status, monitor time charges against schedule and budget plan, keep management aware of any discrepancies.
  • Evaluate assigned project activities, multi-department interaction, scheduling, metrics/measurement and reporting needs with the Director of Engineering to create/choose the best tool set and processes to efficiently accomplish project management goals

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Master's degree preferred), field of study; Engineering and Project Management.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience
  • Six Sigma or PMP designation preferred.
  • Strong MS Office and MS Project application program knowledge and use experience related to job requirements stated above.
  • Ability to analyze schedules and budgets, and provide options for mitigating risks and opportunity to achieving commitments.
  • Project management related to engineering and product design and development.
  • Ability to take ownership of position responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and able to work in a team environment with a diverse group of Managers and Engineers.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Due to the nature of the work performed at this facility, this role may require a DOD Government security clearance. Incumbents must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance while employed by this site.
