The Opportunity | Senior Buyer

The Senior Buyer is responsible for soliciting quotations from a base of qualified vendors, placing purchase orders, follow-up and expediting placed purchase orders to meet established schedules. The individual is also expected to solicit support as necessary from other departments to resolve questions or problems.

Location: East Farmingdale, New York

Your Challenge

• Principal responsibility is for the buyer to know the value of what is being purchased and ensure that the purchase meets required schedules within the budgeted guidelines.
• Works independently with minimum supervision.
• Individual will be negotiating the purchase order terms with regard to quality and cost savings.
• Able to interact with various vendors and other departments.
• Must be diligent with vendor follow-up and expedited promised deliveries.
• Must be organized, detailed oriented and possess time management skills.
• Responsible for periodic visits to vendors.
• Computer knowledge with the Windows, Oracle preferred.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
• Resolve CW Pay issues.
• Participate in KTL meetings and update actions as applicable.
• Responsible for achieving revenue forecast.

Your Expertise

• A minimum of five (5) years work experience as a buyer.
• High School degree but a College degree preferred in Business Administration, or equivalent work experience in manufacturing
• Due to the nature of the work performed at this facility, this role may require a DOD Government security clearance. Incumbents must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance while employed by this site.

This position may require exposure to information that is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of U.S. regulations.
