 Sr Manager, Electrical and Software Engineering


Great opportunity for a Leader to join the Curtiss-Wright Exlar BU with future career growth!

Your challenge will be to provide effective management and technical leadership of the electrical and software engineering resources to sustain growth, foster innovation and produce products that meet performance and customer requirements and company profitability objectives. Additional responsibilities include assisting with management of electrical and software engineering expense and capital budgets; setting, implementing and maintaining standards for the department; and maintaining staffing levels to meet development objectives and established expense levels. In addition to the management of the electrical and software engineering staff, the position will provide customer support by assisting sales management in securing and retaining key OEM customers as a management representative of the company.

The Challenge:

  • Provide leadership and technical direction to the electrical and software engineering staff
  • Manage assigned design and development engineering resources
  • Manage engineers at all levels. Retain necessary technical competence to engage and understand required technical discussions and resulting decisions.
  • Encourage innovation and creativity in order to improve the company's competitive position with regard to product design and technological developments.
  • Support the development and implementation of the company's product and technology strategies
  • Manage the product development process to achieve necessary development objectives and comply with requirements set by the ISO Quality Management System
  • Stay abreast of leading technology breakthroughs and trends as applicable to the company's technical direction.
  • Support the use of state of the art techniques to the company's products and technologies to assure technical leadership.
  • Periodically present and/or communicate engineering activities and status to upper management and other cross functional departments as needed
  • Work with management to assure the strategic direction of the Engineering Department is aligned with the company's goals and objectives
  • Assist in developing annual budgets to utilize relevant engineering resources and meet product and technology development requirements of the company
  • Responsible for the employment, training and supervision of electrical and software engineering staff.
  • Support Sales Management in developing and retaining key OEM as required and prepare and present to support the agenda as necessary

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in the technical field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering). Master's Degree preferred.
  • Industrial grade product experience including:
    • Factory automation
    • Power electronics and servo amplifiers
    • Communications and networks
    • Motion/automation firmware & software
    • System Controls
  • Experience with motion/automation software
  • Recommended minimum of 5 years' experience in managing engineers and/or technical resources and projects
  • Project management experience with electronics and software development efforts
  • Leadership and Management skills
  • Excellent analysis and decision-making skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office
  • Prior experience in a highly regulated industry preferably defense and/or commercial vehicle
  • Prior experience in computer architecture, development of safety-critical real-time embedded software, engineering process discipline?
