The Opportunity | Associate Electrical Engineer

The Associate Electrical Engineer designs, develops and tests a wide range of electrical components, equipment and machinery. May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Creativity and latitude is expected to resolve problems of diverse scope.


  • Create new designs from client requirements

  • Maintain existing designs to improve performance, manufacturability, or to replace obsolete components

  • Modify existing designs to meet new requirements

  • Provide complete product documentation packages including schematics, parts lists, test plans, test procedures, qualification reports, product brochures, operation and maintenance manuals

  • Provide technical support to clients online, by phone and on site

  • Perform independent technical reviews of other engineers' plans, designs and documents

  • Perform work in accordance with established Quality Assurance program and Standard Operating Procedures

  • Provide estimates for R&D planning

  • Generate work instructions to meet purchase order requirements

Desired Skills

  • Circuit design using discreet electronic components

  • Layout of printed circuit boards, connectors and wire harnesses

  • Previous experience in an electronic manufacturing facility

  • Previous experience writing and reviewing technical documents

  • Familiarity with presentation software applications

  • Able to review basic mechanical drawings


  • Bachelors degree in electronics or electrical engineering

  • One to two years relevant work experience

  • Familiar with basic analog circuits and components

  • Able to analyze the performance of electronic systems and circuitry

  • Able to conceive, evaluate and implement new circuit designs and design changes to existing circuits

  • Component level troubleshooting skills

  • Able to work effectively with manufacturing and test personnel

  • Communicates well with peers, management, and clients

  • Able to use traditional electronics test equipment

  • Proficient in the use of office software

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and priorities

  • Able to set and achieve schedule
