Our Salt Lake City, UT site is part of our Defense Solutions division, and more specifically the System Solutions group. This group is comprised of the following business units: Parvus, VDS, Data Solutions and Integrated Systems. Together these business units develop a range of aerospace and defense systems including networking systems, mission computers, video management systems, data recording and storage systems as well as 3U VPX solutions + SMS-684, HPEC + Core SCC solutions, and avionics.

The Parvus business unit focuses on Mission computing and networking technologies, (all products) branded with the prefix Dura on the Defense Solutions website.

Junior Electrical Engineer

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Under close supervision, assists with design, development, integration, and testing of electrical equipment. Will use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Applies established practices of electrical engineering to accomplish goals. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. Applies standard practices and procedures to resolve routine issues. Creativity and latitude is expected to resolve problems of limited scope in small team environment.

Your Challenge:

  • Uses computer-aided design tools (Altium) to capture and update schematics and layouts based on existing products, incorporating design elements provided by senior design staff. Encouraged to create new designs, improve designs when appropriate.
  • Development and check of detailed Interface Control Documents (ICD) to meet system level interconnect requirements.
  • Integration of electrical and mechanical parts for customer specific applications, including software and firmware updates as needed.
  • Assists with determination of design approaches and parameters, including problem investigation.
  • Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts routine experimental tests and evaluates results, including validation testing of products. Provides test reports.
  • Regular review of electronic components for suitability and compliance to requirements

Your Expertise: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Science & Electronics
  • Detail oriented.
  • Previous experience with schematic capture.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Digital Volt Meters, Spectrum Analyzers).
  • Possess aptitude for analytical problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in written and oral form with peers, senior staff, and customers.
