Lead Engineering Technician

The Lead Engineering Technician would be responsible to ensure maintenance in the Test Facility is done through a planned system. The plant mechanic will perform whatever maintenance required at that time, from cleaning boiler fire sides to calibrating system controllers. The equipment they are expected to know, operate and maintain includes High pressure steam boilers, boiler feed systems, control valves; system pumps, piping systems, associated electrical control systems, high pressure air compressors, and cooling towers.

Location: East Farmingdale, NY

Your Challenge:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, inspect and operate High Pressure Boilers at operating pressures of 2500psi and above.
  • Functionally operate production equipment for the purpose of troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions by the use of practical and theoretical knowledge using schematics, diagrams, manuals, written and oral instructions.
  • Establish and maintain a digital maintenance tracking and recall system.
  • Install, maintain, and wire AC and DC motors.
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance checks and service as scheduled, maintaining necessary logs and reports.
  • Clean Boilers, pumps and air compressors to maintain optimum efficiency.
  • Maintain Assembly and test facility pressure carts, filters and inspection logs.
  • Work closely with test facility technicians to schedule repairs and maintenance without disrupting test schedule.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and plumbing systems to minimize test facility down time.
  • Locate and order repair parts and supplies. Assist mechanics in troubleshooting mechanical problems.
  • Schedule Insurance company NYS Boiler inspections.
  • Qualify as a test technician to assist facility technicians during special test programs.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Your Expertise:

  • US Navy Machinist Mate, or Boiler Technician preferred
  • Associates degree or trade school equivalent in a mechanical discipline
  • Ten (7) years of operating plant maintenance or related experience
  • General good housekeeping practices within work area.
  • Review work center for maintenance compliance.
  • Maintain correct time reporting and accurate entries on applicable manufacturing documentation.
  • Comply with Company quality and safety requirements.
  • Must possess the mental capacity to comprehend information provided daily and make own decisions.
