The Opportunity | NDT Quality Supervisor & Level III Examiner

The Quality Control Supervisor leads a small team of NDT/NDE Inspectors and oversees inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established standards of strength, quality, cleanliness, and endurance. Inspection responsibilities include dimensional measurement and positive material identification. Additionally, the Quality Control Supervisor implements and manages the non-destructive testing / non-destructive examination (NDT/NDE) program to include VT, UT, MT, and PT. Assists in oversight of vendor/supplier NDT/NDE programs including VT, UT, MT, PT, and RT. Additionally, the Quality Control Supervisor administers the welder workmanship training and qualification program and provides supervision for calibration personnel and programs.

Quality Duties & Responsibilities:

* Manage the NDT/NDE program to include all the personal and procedures

* Supervise inspectors performing independent inspection via dimensional measurements

* Supervisor inspectors performing independent inspections to validate materials, parts, and products meet established standards of strength, quality, cleanliness, and endurance

* Defines, develops and implements quality standards for receiving, in process and final inspection in accordance with company and contractual requirements

* Interfaces with customers, vendors and various company departments to resolve quality problems and provide information

* Point of contact for inspections and system validation projects

* Formulate and maintain ASME Code Quality Control Manual in accordance with ASME requirements

* Review and write procedures/standards for VT MT PT, and UT processes

* Develop and manage, welder workmanship, inspection, training, and qualification programs

* Perform and oversee annual weld and NDT/NDE program audits

* Conduct training and examination of NDT/NDE personnel

* Conduct surveillances of Level I and Level II inspectors

* Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards

* Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task

* Follow all safety rules and quality standards

* Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency

* Prepare official NDT inspection reports submittal to the government

* Supervise testing, measurement, and diagnostic equipment calibration programs


* Bachelor Degree and 7-10 years of experience, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience

* Qualified Level III Examiner IAW NAVSEA requirements in Tech pub 271 and ASNT NDT Level III certified. Must be able to provide proof of certification

* Experience with dimensional measurement using standard equipment such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, surface comparators, CMM, etc.

* Must be proficient with ASME Code Sections II, VIII and IX.

* Experience with SMAW, GTAW and GMAW welding

* Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form including but not limited to drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals, and procedures

* Experience with NAVSEA metrology requirements

* Must be a sole US citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance


* Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program experience

* Familiarity with NAVSEA steam plant cleanliness controls and Level I material control

* Experience with Navy, ISO 9001, NQA-1, or 10 CFR 50 compliant quality programs


Critical Skill-Relocation Offered if required to compensate some moving expenses to Summerville SC.
