The Opportunity | Senior Thermal Sprayer

This position describes an individual that exhibits advanced thermal spray skills. This role suggests the individual is capable and proficient in the set-up, operation, and maintenance of thermal spray equipment. They can work with minimal to no supervision and can interpret drawings and sketches. They can generally determine the best setup for most thermal spray applications.

Major Accountabilities /Deliverables

  • Set up and prepare parts for thermal spray including cleaning, masking and grit blasting in accordance with company procedures using various machines and techniques

  • Interpretation of drawings and sketches

  • Robotic programming

  • Advanced skills to process products in accordance to customer instructions for application by hand or robotic program

  • Maintain all spray equipment and part identification (markings, tags, job traveler) at all times

  • Ensure all work activities are carried out in an efficient and professional manner

  • Some mentorship and training of lower level thermal sprayers & others as required by the work type


  • 5 years of thermal spray experience required

  • Ability to work with minimal to no supervision

  • Must be able to review job traveler and understand step instructions

  • Can write basic programs and adjust/modify more advanced robot programs

  • Must be able to troubleshoot set-ups and processes

  • Must be able to operate simple rotating equipment (turntables and lathes)

  • Be able to read measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, thickness, and thickness gages.

  • High School Diploma required. One year certificate from college or technical school and basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
