Software DevOps Engineer


We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to help us further develop the practices, processes, and tools that are used to manage, develop, test, and release software -- enabling continuous delivery of our IQ-Core products with increasing automation, repeatability, and quality. You will be responsible for consolidating, simplifying, integrating, and improving the product development and release process. You will likely to be involved with coding to some extent, and a knowledge of coding languages and principles is required, but coding is not the primary role of our DevOps engineer.


At PacStar, DevOps practices aim to simplify the development and delivery of software.

Your Challenge:


  • Documenting current, and creating new processes that improve our efficiency, increase productivity, and allow us to consistently create and deliver our products
  • Continually improving our current development and delivery tools and infrastructure
  • Building and setting up new development and delivery tools and infrastructure where appropriate
  • Understanding the needs of PacStar Software delivery stakeholders (Product Owners, QA, IT, Executives, etc.) and conveying this to developers
  • Automating and improving build and release processes
  • Collaborating with IT and Network Engineering to support our various engineering environments
  • Helping to ensure that systems and the supply chain are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • Working with software engineers, QA engineers, and IT/Network Engineers to ensure that development and delivery follows established processes (best practices)
  • Maintaining and administering supporting tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and associated build servers


    Your Expertise:

  • Minimum five years overall industry experience, plus at least three year of DevOps experience supporting software development
  • Experience with CI/CD services -- Azure DevOps or Bamboo experience a plus
  • Knowledge of programming languages -- C# skills a plus
  • Knowledge of modern scripting languages - PowerShell skills a plus
  • Knowledge of version control systems -- Git experience required
  • Familiarity with DevOps industry standards and Agile software development principles
  • Familiarity with IP networking and networking devices (Switches, Routers, Firewalls, etc.)
  • Familiarity with VMware vSphere (ESXi) a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows
  • Experience with Linux desired
  • Excellent teamworking and communication skills
  • Ability to write high-quality, understandable documentation
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
