The Opportunity | Assistant Unit Controller

Reporting to the Unit Controller, you will be responsible for multiple areas of the accounting activities within the Finance Function but working across the whole Business partnering with all departments -- A great opportunity to understand the Business and be part of its success!

Your Challenge:

  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory or governmental requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as well as corporate policies and procedures. Must stay attuned to early warnings of financial problems, and be able to provide suggestions on decisive action to resolve or address these problems

  • Assists with developing objectives, strategies and tactics from an accounting and financial perspective. Measures performance against company goals, reveals obstacles to growth and implements strategies for improvements.

  • Prepare and analyse month-end management reports; reviewing for accuracy or omissions, reporting findings to management and alert management to significant variances to plan and forecast. .

  • Co-ordinates the preparation of weekly Sales (SNAP) forecast, annual and quarterly budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to guide the financial management of the business unit(s).

  • Assist with the management of Working Capital ensuring adherence to targets are maintained and variances explained.

  • Monitor and manage Engineering Cost activities ensuring Engineering costs remain on target while new products are being brought to market.

  • Prepare and review pricing for Bid Proposals, prepare appropriation requests, analyse ledger and module transactions, prepare special reports, handle routine and special projects, manage elements of A/R and A/P transactional flow.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting, financial analysis

  • Ability to Multi-task and get stuck in!

  • Experience in SAP an advantage and ERP Systems transition

  • Experience with percentage of completion would be an asset

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong report writing abilities
