The Opportunity | Associate Buyer


Location: Middleburgh Heights, OH (greater Cleveland area)

*This position is a full time, permanent opportunity that requires travel for training. All candidates must be able to travel out of state for training. We offer competitive wages and have a sign-on bonus available for all qualified applicants.

Under close supervision, performs a variety of routine and/or low dollar value buying/purchasing tasks involving materials, supplies, or services. Reviews purchase requirements and places orders with approved suppliers. May evaluate bids, select and/or recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service. Follows up on all awards until completion of order. May assist in negotiations for major purchases by developing or compiling statistical information and gathering other data as required. Coordinates with the accounting department as required resolving questions on suppliers' invoices.




Your Challenge:



  • Ability to review purchase requirements and place orders with approved suppliers. Follow up on open orders.

  • Assist senior buyers with reports and expedites.

  • Ability to evaluate bids, select and/or recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service. Follow up on all awards until completion of order.

  • Assist in negotiations for major purchases by developing or compiling statistical information and gathering other data as required.

  • Ability to interface with customers, vendors and various company departments to resolve problems and provide information as needed.

  • Ability to coordinate with the accounting department as required resolving questions on supplier invoices.

  • Maintain a neat and clean work area.




Your Expertise:



  • 3+ years related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or supply chain



  • Associate's Degree typically required; Bachelor's Degree preferred (Business Administration, Supply Chain)

  • Knowledge of material management functions which includes procurement planning and processes.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with others

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • MS Office experience required

  • Experience in Syteline or other ERP/MRP system preferred

  • Display an understanding of the importance of product quality and compliance to health and safety procedures.
