The Opportunity | Buyer

The successful candidate will be responsible to purchase a variety of indirect materials and services such as capital equipment, facilities, maintenance, engineering, repair, and labor. This individual will need to work well in a team environment with minimal supervision.

The Challenge:

  • Manage a variety of indirect purchases, including facilities, capital equipment and other complex technical materials and/ or services.

  • Evaluate bids, select and recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service.

  • Negotiate, create, and present, service contracts, covering various facility service needs, for management approval

  • Manage supplier performance.

  • Follow-up on all awards until completion of order.

  • Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.

  • Responsible for complying with corporate policies, procedures and underlying federal, state and/or local regulations concerning the purchase or shipment of goods, materials and services.

  • Effectively manage financial data

  • Establish and maintain effective relations with Suppliers/Customers/Auditors

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field and 5+ years of indirect purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment OR equivalent 10-15+ years indirect purchasing in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong problem solving and trouble-shooting skills and ability to manage complex technical issues to correctly source and deliver equipment, materials and/or support.

  • Contract management and supplier management experience

  • Prior experience working on capital projects and/or major repairs in a manufacturing setting

  • Experience with Oracle ERP system

  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office programs

  • Organized, self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented; ability to multi-task

  • Have a good sense for priority setting and time management ; ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines

  • Ability to work individually with minimal supervision or with a team

  • Build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers

  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy

  • Working knowledge of basic contract law

  • Must be US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
