The Opportunity | Buyer

Under general direction, the Buyer will purchase a variety of materials, supplies and services. The buyer will also coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. They will process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. Additionally, the Buyer will be responsible for monitoring the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value. They may recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing. This position will interact closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.

Your Challenge

  • Manages delivery, quality and service of our suppliers; Follow up on all awards until completion of order

  • Daily review and action on MRP messages and shortage reports

  • Process requests in a timely and effective manner, effectively planning and assuring delivery of tiems, good or services by dates required

  • Maintain internal relationships with the Quality Assurance (QA) and Customer Service (CS) teams; work closely with the QA and CS teams to resolve issues that may arise. Effectively resolve delivery and quality issues as they arise

  • Ensure vendors are in compliance with established agreements and are providing materials, good and services that meet our internal quality standards

  • May issue purchase order (PO) requests on engineering, manufacturing, production and other related items; ensure all PO requests are properly reviewed for accuracy and business relevance;

  • Conducts local supplier site visits and rates them as to production capability, performance and delivery.

  • Responsible for complying with corporate policies, procedures and underlying Federal, state and/or local regulations concerning the purchase or shipment of goods, materials, or services.

Your Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or Business Management

  • 2-3 years of experience as a Buyer within a manufacturing/industrial environment

  • Thorough understanding of ERP Systems
