The Opportunity | Electrical Test Engineer

Location: Newmarket, ON

Type: Full-time, Permanent position

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under general direction, performs a variety of specific professional non-complex engineering tasks of an analysis, design or test nature. Participates on project teams as required and receives close guidance and instruction from more experienced engineers and/or supervisor when working in more complex areas. Engineering activities support both domestic and international products/services.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs. Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.

  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Assist in developing the structural design of products, and provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems

  • Required to be hands-on: capable of reading and interpreting electrical and pneumatic schematics that would arrive with a device, then be able to test the device to its published extents, with the use of laboratory equipment such as DMMs, power supplies, transformers, and various meters.

  • The ability to use monitoring equipment for Data Acquisition i.e. oscilloscope, or software such as labview, and would be able to capture the degradation of a device under test, read and interpret the results.

  • Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction projects, and prepare contract documents.

  • May establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed condition.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field)

  • 2-3 years of related electrical engineering experience including engineering analysis, design and test.

  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and complex computer-generated reports.

  • Experience with manufacturing and fabrication would be an asset

  • Oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office.

  • Organization, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple opportunities and meet strict deadlines.

  • Problem solving and analytical skills
