The Opportunity | Electronics Test Technician

Under minimal supervision, the Electronics Test Technician performs moderately complex technical functions related to the testing of a wide variety of electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems.

Major Accountabilities /Deliverables

  • Utilizing test procedures and other written instructions, selects the appropriate measurement and test equipment

  • Builds test set-ups, and conducts tests to collect data and evaluate the operability and acceptability of the components or system to the requirements of the test plan.

  • Documents data on applicable data sheets.

  • Records and reports failures and test anomalies.

  • Works with engineering and project coordinators as needed in the development of test procedures.

  • Initiates and participates in continuous improvement activities.

  • Performs all work in a safe an efficient manner.


Must possess the following skills and competencies:

  • Solid understanding of electricity;

    • Alternating and Direct Current.

    • Ohm's Law, Power Law.

    • Using Ohm's Law, Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test electrical control equipment, calculate and construct resistive loads.

    • Assembles and tests, switch panels, transformers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components according to test plans and knowledge of electrical principles.

    • Develop wiring diagrams and layout drawings

    • Measure Voltage, Current, Capacitance, Inductance, Impedance and Resistance.

    • Construction of Series Circuits.

    • Construction of Parallel Circuits.

    • Construction of AC or DC circuits.

    • Use of power supplies, Voltmeters, High potential testers, Meggers, Decade resistance boxes, Primary Current Injection Testing, Automatic Relay Testing, ScopeCorders and other common electrical testing devices.

    • Three-Phase electric power.

    • Connections of transformers Power "Y" or star and Delta.

  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude

  • Detail oriented

  • Basic math and computer skills (MS Office)

  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent, and two to three years of related experience.

  • Technical training equivalent to an Associate's degree preferred.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics required
