Curtiss-Wright Industrial Division, which includes the product brands of Arens Controls, Penny & Giles, PG Drives Technology and Williams Controls, is an excellent supplier in providing components and sub-systems which enable customer specific solutions for on- and off-highway vehicles. These include medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses and motor coaches, construction and agricultural vehicles, materials handling, and other specialty vehicles, as well as sophisticated wheelchairs and scooters for medical mobility.

We develop and manufacture electronic throttle controls, transmission shifters and sensors for commercial off-highway equipment and heavy trucks, helping to address the long-term trend towards attaining higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions. We also supply operator controls and advanced motor controllers for hybrid and electric vehicles, such as buses, forklift trucks, pallet stackers, wheelchairs, and rehabilitation chairs.

Curtiss-Wright are looking for a Embedded Linux Developer / Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the design of safety critical, real time control systems which underpin our electric vehicle controllers. You will be involved in all aspects of software and control system development from initial concept through to release to production and beyond. This includes interpreting specifications and developing robust software solutions to meet these requirements on time and to budget.

Your Challenge:

  • Working within small dedicated project teams in the design of high volume and safety-critical embedded systems for the Industrial and Mobility vehicle markets
  • Working with software between low level drivers, real-time motor control and high-level applications.

Your Expertise

  • Degree level in Software Engineering / equivalent discipline or equivalent related experience
  • Proven experience in embedded Linux development, ideally Yocto
  • Strong experience in design and coding using C and/or C++ or similar
  • Thorough understanding of software design and coding, preferably including UML
  • Good attention to detail and an excellent communicator with a desire to deliver and contribute fully to successful projects
  • Experience in SQL database, Linux driver development, RTOS, inter-process/processor communications and strength in mathematics would also be advantageous.
