Job Description

The Opportunity | Engineer Associate


As the Engineer for the Mechanical Testing Department, you will provide engineering support for all mechanical testing at IMR Test Labs in Ithica, NY. Perform testing as needed to ensure all testing is completed on time and meets customer and internal quality standards. Ensure all personnel are trained to internal procedures and all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Interpret results, develop process improvements, write procedures, conduct internal calibrations.


Responsibilities:



  • Provide engineering support for all mechanical testing

  • Technical expert on mechanical testing and applicable ASTM standards

  • Lead weld testing through review of specifications, development of test plans, and review of reports

  • Review purchase orders through the login process

  • Review/correct difficult mechanical test records and review final reports

  • Work with customers to develop test plans and oversee non-routine testing

  • Write mechanical procedures and ensure proper training

  • Complete audit checklists and ensure areas are always audit ready

  • Provide training and development to mechanical testing personnel. Ensure staff is up to date on new and updated/ revised procedures and standards

  • Lead change and Continuous Improvement activities throughout the mechanical department



Your Expertise:



  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills.

  • Solid experience in mechanical testing concepts.

  • Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written.
