The Opportunity | Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator

The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and maintaining corporate EH&S programs. They will also be responsible for ensuring facility alignment with federal, state and local environmental, health and safety regulations/standards under direction of the Corporate EH&S department. This is a key role within our EH&S department that will require routine evaluation of work processes and practices, targeting continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Your Challenge

  • Provide daily oversight of air permitting, water discharge and hazardous material disposal activities to comply with jurisdictional requirements

  • Evaluate work processes and practices, targeting continuous improvement and regulatory compliance

  • Consult with facility managers on OSHA and EPA compliance

  • Maintain a progressive training program to promote workplace safety and compliance

  • Prepare and submit reports on EH&S activities to jurisdictional agencies

  • Manage sites worker's compensation claims in coordination with Corporate EH&S.

  • Complete comprehensive near-miss and post-accident investigations to prevent recurrence

  • Continuously monitor regulatory activities that can influence Business Unit operations

  • Conduct regular facility walkthroughs for identification of hazards and risks to prevent injuries, spills or other EHS&S impacts and to ensure compliance with company and customer-specific safety standards and government regulations

  • Serves as the chair of the Safety Committee as well as prepares and conducts all safety committee meetings to promote an accident free working environment

  • Verifies all materials on site have current SDS sheets as required by State and Federal laws and all container labels are GHS compliant

  • Perform complementary tasks assigned by facility management or the Corporate EH&S department

Your Expertise

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

  • 5+ years of practical experience in a manufacturing environment that includes maintaining air, water and hazardous waste management programs for an SQG or LQG.

  • Background in coatings, finishing or chemical-related processes preferred

  • Strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements and codes of practice (OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and NFPA).

  • 3-5 years working experience with Industrial Hygiene monitoring

  • Excellent problem resolution, critical thinking, analytical and root cause analysis skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • The ability to work independently and efficiently performing multiple tasks.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Confined Space Entry, Power Industrial Trucks and Fire Prevention

  • Stable employment history
