The Opportunity | Global Demand Planner

The Global Demand Planner is accountable for the development and loading of the of the forecast and consensus demand plan (CDP) for valves that will be used drive MRP across 4 global sites. This will include working with internal Sales team and our external distributor network to incorporate market intelligence into the monthly demand plan. Tasks will be performed using standard ERP and Forecasting Software along with other systems and spreadsheet based tools.

Your Challenge

  • Define and maintain the valve forecasting hierarchy structure and system parameters to enable top-down and bottoms-up statistical forecasting and reconciliation in the ERP / forecasting Software.

    • On-going refinement of forecasting strategy is critical to drive continuous improvement.

  • Utilize ERP / Forecasting software to generate a baseline statistical forecast on a monthly basis. This will include 'best-fit' modeling to select the appropriate forecast model and aggregation.

  • Gather market intelligence from sales, finance and distributor network to incorporate into and adjust the baseline statistical forecast.

    • Includes challenging of inputs based on 'fact-based' analysis.

  • Translate unit demand plan into revenue / income projection to identify gaps between loaded demand and financial plan for decision and resolution during the S&OP / SIOP cycle.

  • Lead a monthly Consensus Demand Plan review process and meeting with Sales, Finance, Planning and Operations to ensure agreement with the CDP prior to load / activation in ERP.

    • Includes decisions and documentation on differences between unconstrained and constrained demand plan load.

  • Provide Monthly reporting on KPIs (Forecast Accuracy, Demand Volatility, Inventory Turns) and corrective actions to improve performance.

  • Partner with Global Production Planning to ensure alignment between forecasting, planning and materials strategy.

  • Support special projects / process improvement activities as requested.

Your Expertise

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, operations research, or statistics.

  • 4 years of direct experience in demand planning / forecasting.

    • High-mix, low-volume / configure to order environment a plus.

  • 2 years of experience in supply chain planning related function (production planning / materials replenishment / buying).

  • Experience supporting a formal SIOP / S&OP process (key contributor or supporting role).

  • Career-growth oriented.

  • Hands-on experience with use of statistical forecasting and analysis techniques.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated capability to solve problems and make decisions.

  • Advanced Excel and data mining skills with ability to utilize these skills to quickly conduct ad-hoc analysis and automate routine tasks.

  • Hands-on experience with implementation of demand planning or ERP software.

  • Hands-on experience with MRP, purchasing, and production planning systems such as Infor LN, SAP, JDA, etc.
