The Opportunity | Industrial Engineer

Primary objective of this position is improvement through optimum use of facilities, manpower and materials. Responsible for problem analysis, recommendations of a solution, and driving the implementation of the solution. Performs manufacturing analysis, and improvement of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment, and energy utilizing Lean/ Six Sigma methodologies. Responsible for traditional IE activities of line balancing, layout, and time standards development. Develops and implements plans for continuous overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) improvements by enhancing yields, uptime process improvement activities. Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement projects to meet specific objectives. Evaluates current equipment, capabilities, capacities, and prepares capital justifications for purchase of new equipment.

Your Challenge:

  • Develops internal processes to reduce non-value added activities and provide improved business results. Facilitates process improvement teams and Kaizen events involving value streams core to the business. (50% of time)

  • Work closely with quality assurance, engineering, maintenance and operations personnel to improve overall equipment efficiency and performance. (20% of time)

  • Promote and drive continuous improvement by creating measurables beyond production reports and goal charts to pinpoint production problems using various 6 sigma and lean tools. (10% of time)

Your expertise:

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant Engineering subject

  • 4-6 years experience in a similar role

  • Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt

  • Experience in Six Sigma, methods analysis, time study, standard cost systems, cost analysis, plant layout, work simplification and ergonomics required.

  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.

  • Knowledge of various problem-solving techniques including: process mapping, data collection, and statistical analysis

  • Strong computer skills, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

  • Strong communication skills with track record of influencing change.
