The Opportunity | Supplier Quality Manager


Own supplier quality performance for the Sensors organization and manage a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and Supplier Development Engineers that will work in partnership with external providers to continuously improve supply chain quality. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting external providers with the development of their systems, processes, and inspection standards to meet the needs of Curtiss-Wright and our customers. These external partners include machine shops, special process vendors, distributors, and COT suppliers. Continuous evaluation of supply chain performance and ensuring sustained product compliance and customer satisfaction will be essential. This position will require leadership, outstanding interpersonal skills, and teamwork.


Your Challenge


• General Activities


o Contribute to the creation and implementation of the supplier quality strategy


o Develop, implement, and maintain supplier related Curtiss-Wright quality systems and processes


o Engage with Curtiss-Wright engineering and suppliers during initial quoting to ensure a complete understanding of the product quality and performance requirements


o Assist with supplier selection and supplier exit/grow decisions


o Manage, coach, and develop personnel to ensure objectives are met


• Daily Supplier Quality Activities


o Manage and report the status of supplier non-conformances, corrective actions, and escapes


o Evaluate, report status, and take action on supplier quality metrics


o Assist suppliers with creating inspection plans that meet Curtiss-Wright and customer requirements


o Collaborate with suppliers to generate PFMEAs, Control Plans, and MSA studies


o Coordinate source inspection at supplier facilities


o Ensure lessons learned are communicated across the organization


• Supplier Development Activities


o Review supplier quality metrics, create continuous improvement plans for underperforming suppliers, and regularly report on status


o Implement and audit Zero Defect Plans for critical suppliers


o Coordinate quality audits at supplier facilities


o Assist with evaluating supplier capacity


o Manage supplier industry certifications and self-evaluations


o Control the Curtiss-Wright supplier quality manual and approved vendor list


Your Expertise



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality or Management

  • 5+ years' experience in supplier quality/development role with responsibility of managing suppliers

  • GD&T experience, ability to make compliance determinations, ability to understand statistical inference.

  • Membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous e.g. ASQ

  • Significant experience in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment preferred

  • Strong knowledge and ability to execute various problem solving quality tools (RCCA, PFMEA, Manufacturing Process Reviews, Statistical Process Control and Zero Defect Plans)
