Job Description

With over 50 years of experience in aviation technology, Curtiss-Wright's Sensors & Controls Division is continuing the legacy of flight innovation, providing critical components on a variety of commercial, defense and industrial platforms. From solenoid valves and sensors, to linear and rotary actuators, we work closely with systems integrators to deliver the most reliable products on the market.

We are looking for a Manual Machinist to join our team here at our new facility in Christchurch. You will support the manufacturing of small machined components using a variety of machines (predominantly manual turning). Joining a small team in a high mix low volume environment where commitment to succeed through self-motivation, enthusiasm and determination are essential characteristics needed.

The shop has a full range of manufacturing and tool making capabilities across a small flexible and time served team of 5. Production batch sizes are generally small (10 to 50) with fine tolerances and tight deadlines. All our product are Aerospace related so documentation control is vital, as is ensuring procedures and processes are adhered to.

Skills and Experience:

  • The successful candidate will have broad machine shop experience and skills in manual turning and support processes (drill, tap, deburr)

  • Understand machining drawings, symbols and dimensional requirements

  • Working to precision tolerances

  • Ability to confidently use hand measuring tools

    • Appreciation of H&S

    • Good Communicator

    • Willingness to learn

    • Team player

    • Knowledge of basic Microsoft office

This position may require exposure to information which is subject to export control regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
